Service Description
Set in the beautiful woodland, this workshop introduces you to the art of whittling and carving with a billhook, sheath knife and a crook knife and facilitate you in creating your own wooden spoon. The journey will begin with learning about working wood and selecting a branch of hazel from which your spoon will be carved. You will learn how to handle the tools safely and before long you will soon be immersed in the meditative art of whittling. This is an exercise in slowing down, settling your attention and connecting with both nature and skills from the past. Group sizes are small to enable individual attention and you will be guided throughout the whole process. All tools will be provided. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day. The fire will be lit and the kettle will be on the go! Lunch in the form of a hearty, vegetarian soup and crusty bread, will be provided. Home-made cake will also be on offer for dessert.
